Apex Trader Funding Rules Explained: Drawdown, Daily Loss and Consistency
Rules checked against Apex's website and help center on October 16, 2026. They apply to Apex's current accounts. Apex says its new rules apply to new products only, so older "legacy" accounts can follow different rules. Confirm on Apex Trader Funding's site before you trade. Stopline is not affiliated with Apex.
The short version
You pick an EOD Trail or an Intraday Trail account, hit the profit target without touching the trailing drawdown, and move on to a Performance Account (PA). Here is the 50K EOD Trail plan as listed on Apex's site:
| Rule | 50K EOD Trail evaluation |
|---|---|
| Starting balance | $50,000 |
| Profit target | $3,000 |
| Max drawdown | $2,000, end of day |
| Daily loss limit | $1,000 |
| Max contracts | 6 minis or 60 micros |
| Minimum days to pass | 1 |
| Evaluation window | 30 days, no resets |
EOD trailing drawdown
On EOD accounts, Apex recalculates your threshold once a day at 4:59:59 PM ET from your closing balance. It follows your highest closing balance and never moves down. The new level then applies in real time for the whole next session, so touching it intraday liquidates the account. In an evaluation that is a fail. In a PA the account is closed (Apex EOD drawdown explained).
| Day | Closing balance | Threshold |
|---|---|---|
| Start | $50,000 | $48,000 |
| Day 1 | $50,800 | $48,800 |
| Day 2 | $51,600 | $49,600 |
| Day 3: losing day | $50,900 | $49,600, unchanged |
| Day 4 | $52,000 | $50,000 |
Intraday trailing drawdown
Intraday Trail accounts use the same $2,000 distance on a 50K, but the threshold follows your peak balance in real time, open profit included. Apex's example: an open trade lifts a $50,000 account to $50,900, so the threshold jumps to $48,900 straight away, even if you close the trade at $50,300 (Apex intraday drawdown explained). This is stricter than EOD, because giving back open profit still moves your floor up.
Where the trailing stops
This is the detail most traders get wrong, and it depends on your account and platform (Apex):
- Performance Accounts: the threshold stops at starting balance plus $100. On a 50K PA it locks at $50,100 once your high reaches $52,100.
- Tradovate evaluations: the threshold keeps trailing with no stop.
- Rithmic and WealthCharts evaluations: the threshold stops at the profit target balance, $53,000 on a 50K. Since you pass at $53,000, in practice it trails for the whole evaluation.
In the calculator, choose "Starting balance + $100" for a PA and "Never" for an evaluation. For EOD accounts enter your highest closing balance. For Intraday accounts enter your highest balance at any moment, including open profit.

Daily loss limit
EOD evaluations have a fixed daily loss limit: $500 on a 25K, $1,000 on a 50K, $1,500 on a 100K and $2,000 on a 150K. Intraday evaluations have none. The limit counts open losses, and hitting it closes your positions and pauses trading until the next session, which starts at 6 PM ET. It does not fail the account (Apex daily loss limit explained).
In a PA the daily loss limit and contract limit grow with your profit:
| 50K PA profit | Max contracts | Daily loss limit |
|---|---|---|
| $0 to $1,499 | 2 | $1,000 |
| $1,500 to $2,999 | 3 | $1,000 |
| $3,000 to $5,999 | 4 | $2,000 |
| $6,000 and up | 4 | $3,000 |
The 50% consistency rule for payouts
Apex's 50K plan lists no consistency rule for the evaluation. In a PA, your largest profitable day must be less than 50% of your net profit since your last payout before you can request one. The quick math is highest day / 0.5. Apex's example: a $1,500 best day means you need at least $3,000 in net profit. Being over the line does not fail the account. You keep trading until the share drops, and the count resets after each approved payout (Apex 50% consistency requirement).
Apex says "less than" 50%, so landing exactly on the line is not enough. Aim a little above the total the calculator shows.

A simple plan for a 50K EOD account
- Treat the $1,000 daily loss limit as your real daily risk, and the trailing threshold as your account risk. Size from whichever is smaller with the position size calculator.
- In the evaluation there is no consistency rule, but in the PA a single big day can hold up payouts. Keep days steady from the start.
- Pace the 30-day window with the profit target pace calculator.
